Marriott World in Orlando is actually the largest Marriott hotel in the world. Located in the same vicinity as a lot of the Disney hotels and main theme park attractions, it’s a resort that some may look past when visiting Orlando for the parks. With over 2,000 rooms, a golf course on site, water park, and great access to all of Orlando it’s a fabulous resort. We try a little bit of everything on our visit here, and let’s not forget Orlando is a golfing Mecca so you are spoilt for choice if you plan on bringing your clubs.
Hawks Landing Golf Club
Hawk’s Landing is located on site and it is probably a two-minute walk from the hotel lobby to the first tee. The course is not particularly long maxing out at 6600 yards, but offers a lot of variety and whilst it is tight off the tee, wayward shots will generally result in a shot from under trees. We teed it up and had a pretty good time on the course. The conditioning was excellent and the holes did offer a lot of variety. There were a lot of variations in length, options with tee shots, and good scoring chances. The most memorable hole is probably number three; it plays almost as a double dogleg par 5 with water affecting both sides of the hole at various points. I also particularly enjoyed the 17th; a short par 4 that is drivable, it’s a very isolated tee box and just feels different to the rest of the course. Overall this is a great resort course and the public can also come and play it. Green fees vary depending on the time of year but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
