If you’re like us, you’re always trying to find better gear for less money which is how we stumbled across the TecTecTec Ult-X laser rangefinder. This beauty packs a big punch at a more reasonable price tag so we decided to take it for a test drive.
Rangefinder Accuracy
We found the TecTecTec Ult-X rangefinder to be extremely accurate during our review. We tested both long, medium and short distances in a variety of lighting conditions. We tested this against another rangefinder we know to be accurate and in each instance, the TecTecTec laser rangefinder gave us a very accurate reading.
TecTecTec Ult-X Features
A few features of the TecTecTec Ult-X that we really liked were the flagpole locking, as well as the slope correction. We think these are must-have features for any good rangefinder.
What’s nice is that the slope correction feature doesn’t require pushing any buttons. You simply slide the front of the device forward. It moves a couple of millimeters and shows a bright yellow strip. This ingenious solution allows you to quickly recognize if you’re in slope mode or not.
Flagpole locking gives a nice vibration when it locks onto the flag. Slope correction helps adjust for the angle of the green relative to your hitting position. So if you’re hitting an uphill or downhill shot, the TecTecTec will adjust accordingly.
In addition, this rangefinder claims to be accurate up to .3 yards – that’s about 1 foot and will actually display that fraction of a yard measurement. The Ult-X also claims to be able to measure something up to 1093 yards away. More useful for hunting purposes than golfing, but cool none the less.
TecTecTec ULT-X Rangefinder Modes
There are 4 modes on the device depending on your needs.
- Normal Mode – allows you to quickly measure something
- Scan Mode – you can scan your surroundings and get constant measurement updates
- Flagseeker Mode – this mode provides haptic feedback when a flagpole is detected.
- Pin / Slop Mode – will adjust the measurement with slope correction
Our Verdict
The TecTecTec Ult-x offers similar features of it’s big brother competitors for about 50 – 75% of the price. We love the pull out slope correction mode which makes it easy to know if you’re tournament legal.
